— Your chance to get active and get involved —

You want to get involved, meet people and organize cool events, but you don’t know how? Maybe there is something for you in the following societies. Simply write to the speakers by e-mail or via the social media channels or just come along to the next meeting if you feel like it! All the societies are happy to see new faces!

Here you will find a brief overview of the following presentations. You can also get more information via the menu.

AntiRa

The AntiRa is committed to dismantling racism and discrimination in everyday life and society. This includes making racist and discriminatory structures visible (also in the university context) and raising social awareness about the existence of such structures.

ARCHIPEL

The Autonomous Department for Chronic Illnesses, Handicaps and Inclusion, Mental Illnesses, Empowerment and Learning Disabilities is aimed at all students who experience special restrictions and limitations due to their bodies.
The aim of ARCHIPEL is to listen to difficulties and problems from your everyday study life, to take you seriously and support you, to take action against disadvantages, to create an atmosphere of community help, to make our university a place where people in all health situations can study appropriately. In doing so, they oppose a view of humanity that makes deficiencies out of deviations from an ostensible norm.

AStA Living Room

The AStA-WoZi is a department that enriches cultural life on campus with musical events such as concerts and jams, but also other formats such as readings.
The WoZi is a non-commercial free space, which means that the space is available to everyone during lecture times or by arrangement outside of these. The aim is to give artists, committed people and students the opportunity to get involved in different ways, for example through their own events or events in cooperation with the WoZi team.

HoPo unit

The HoPo department takes care of everything that has to do with university politics, both directly at the university here in Lüneburg and beyond in the state and national student associations.
For example, we try to structure and coordinate the work in the many committees at the university and are currently developing a strategy against the lack of volunteers in the student body.
In addition, we represent the AStA at the Lower Saxony State Student Conference and in the Free Association of Student Unions (fzs).
We also organize educational events and are there for you with any questions and requests relating to university politics!

International Society

The International Society is a group of international students at Leuphana and their friends. The International Society provides a place for international students (both regular and exchange students) to network and support each other during their stay abroad in Germany. The aim of the International Society is to improve the student experience through interaction with internationals and their friends, i.e. to provide critical feedback on the university with regard to a fair and inclusive study and work environment.

Öko?-logisch!

The Öko?-logisch! department wants to play an active role in shaping the socio-ecological transformation on campus and in the city. To this end, the department regularly plans exciting events, such as workshops or lectures, brings the annual Waste Prevention Week to Leuphana and organizes a monthly vegan brunch in PlanB.

PFUI – The policy unit

The political society wants to contribute to the shaping of civil society in the 21st century. Hereby politics is understood in the broadest sense: university and general politics, by no, mean limited to committees, but rather in active and perhaps also daily action, and not at all politically disenchanted. But discussions
about political theory(ies) are also welcome!
Sustainability and justice can only be thought of together and can only be effective across the entire spectrum from the local to the global. Therefore, the political society tries to cover as diverse a range of topics as possible. The society is organized in a grassroots way and works in a beginner-friendly way.

QuARG

QuARG stands for Queer, Awareness, Equal Rights, and Gender Matters. QuARG is interested in everything related to gender and sexuality. This includes homosexuality, bisexuality, heterosexuality, asexuality, intersexuality, and trans identity, as well as feminism, sexism, and queerness. One focus of our work is political education. QuARG advocates for equality aims to make discrimination and privilege visible and strives to counteract them. They use their mandate in the General Student Committee (AStA) for precisely this purpose.
The QuARG does very different things: they are the point of contact for all students who have something on their mind and want to turn to us. We organize a colorful bouquet of events in their subject area; these can be lectures, workshops, film screenings, actions on campus, and much more. New ideas are always welcome. We also organize cozy meetups, such as our regular QuARG evening, to simply have a nice time together and exchange ideas. Here, too, anyone who likes can drop by and take part

Studen Employees – StuBe

The StuBe department represents the interests of student employees and is also the point of contact for any questions you may have about your employment. Do you have questions
about your rights as an employee, do you feel you are being exploited or are you unclear about your contract? Then you can contact StuBe. StuBe is particularly important at the moment, as the department has taken on the role of a local initiative of TVStud in 2023, i.e.
has joined the nationwide campaign for a collective agreement for student employees. The next round of collective bargaining will take place in 2025.

Radio Katerfrühstück (a wordplay with Kater meaning literally cat or hungover — hungover breakfast)

The Uniradio makes your evening a bit deliKATER – almost every Tuesday in the semester
you can listen at 7 pm on 95.5 MHz or in the livestream on www.zusa.de as the department chats about
topics around the campus and Lüneburg.
Would you also like to take part in the radio or tell something exciting? hen get in touch with us, make yourself comfortable in our studio, and tell us what moves you. For that extra Kater, listen to previous shows on Soundclound (user-762249601) and follow them on Facebook and Instagram. That’s also where they announce all the editorial meetings, to which you’re also always invited.

Theater Society

The theater society offers you two theater groups: On the one hand, you get the chance to be involved in a play on the big stage, on the other hand, our improv group “Nicht Unbefugt” invites you to play freely after prompts from the audience Either way, with us the stage world is open to you!
As part of the theater society, you will find your role. Whether it’s as an actor or actress, or assisting with directing, tech, makeup, set design, and anything else that comes up, the theater society is looking forward to welcoming you!

Unikino – The Campus Cinema

The Unikino regularly shows a colorful mix of blockbusters, old treasures and new films worth seeing. The lecture hall is transformed into a movie theater for you! From time to time there are also special film screenings as part of certain theme weeks or in cooperation with other departments or similar. The Unikino is always open to new input, whether it’s a film quiz stream, Netflix party or podcast episode – anything is possible!
You can find more information about the films, special screenings etc. in our
program flyer and on Facebook.

Cultural Society – Vakuum

As a cultural department, Vakuum organizes various events and contributes to a lively campus life. Concerts, poetry slams, exhibitions, or even special things like Doppelkopf tournaments are part of the repertoire. All in all, the vacuum does what they feel like doing.
From the initial idea to planning and advertising measures to the realization of the event, you can gain a lot of experience in event organization.
