Upheaval// Campus history and culture of remembrance in Lüneburg

The podcast looks at how the Scharnhorst barracks, built during the Nazi era, was reused after the end of the Second World War and how it came to be used as Leuphana’s campus today. We are also interested in how the site is perceived and what meanings have been and are attributed to it. To this end, we initially conducted five interviews with people who have connections to Lüneburg, the university and the site of the former Scharnhorst barracks. In view of the many different perspectives, our project can only be understood as a “work in progress”.
In this podcast, we present a fragment of the points of view that exist on this topic. This is a first attempt at a possible longer-term project.
