Essay competition: Transformation is female

Last updated 14. March 2024 | Buero

The DGB Lower Saxony and the Lower Saxony Alliance for Sustainability (NAN) have launched the essay competition “Transformation is female – gender perspectives on decarbonisation in Lower Saxony“.

In the competition, they are calling on young scientists, students and practitioners to share their perspectives on the connection between climate protection, gender roles and the world of work in the form of short scientific papers (“essays”) relating to Lower Saxony.

The jury is particularly interested in the consequences of the fight against climate change on the working world of women in Lower Saxony. If the economy switches to climate-neutral production, professions and working conditions will also change. Understanding this change from the perspective of women’s working and living environments is the subject of the essay competition.

Anka Dobslaw, State Secretary in the Lower Saxony Ministry for the Environment, Energy and Climate Protection, acts as patron of the project. The network of cooperation centres for universities and trade unions in Lower Saxony and Bremen will provide scientific support.

The closing date for entries is May 1st 2024; the best essays will be awarded cash prizes of €2,750 and published. In addition, the author of a promising idea for a thesis will be supported with €1,000. All details can be found in the attached Call for Papers and under the link above.

Please do not hesitate to contact us if you have any questions.
